The Man Behind the Success of Neo Matrix Medical
The Most Powerful Name in Stem Cell Therapy
Those who know Dr. Mike Van Thielen, Ph.D., can attest that he is a passionate and charismatic person, driven to succeed in all areas of his life.
Dr. Mike, a holistic nutrition and health/wellness expert, author, accomplished keynote/motivational speaker and world class competitive swimmer, has been involved in optimal health practices, anti-aging and regenerative medicine, sports performance, nutrition and supplementation for nearly three decades.
He was born in Belgium and grew up with his single mom and younger brother. Driven from a very young age, Dr. Mike excelled in many athletic events but was unable to win the middle school swimming competition. That’s because one of his friends was a member of the local swim team. “Guess what I did because I was a sore loser?” says Dr. Mike. “I joined the swim team myself and found my love for swimming.” He competed from age eight until age 24 and won multiple national Belgian titles and swam various records.
As a top swimmer in his native Belgium, Dr. Mike gained interest in optimizing health and athletic performance. He graduated from the University of Brussels (Belgium) in 1993 with a bachelor’s degree in physical education and in 1995 with a master’s degree in physical therapy. He served as the assistant coach and physical therapist for Belgian Olympic swimmers in preparation for the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. “During that time a physical therapy recruiter offered me a position in Ormond Beach,” he recalls. “I’d never heard of the place, but I liked the idea of living near the beach, so I said yes.”
Dr. Mike moved to Florida in 1997, and after managing several pain management clinics, he pursued his Master’s of Science in Oriental medicine and his Bachelor of Science in professional health studies from the Florida College of Integrative Medicine in Orlando.
Dr. Mike is a licensed physical therapist, a licensed acupuncture physician, and a doctor of Oriental Medicine, with certifications in injection therapy, homeopathy and homotoxicology, Chinese herbal medicine, and non-invasive cosmetic procedures. He also obtained his Ph.D. in Holistic Nutrition from the College of Natural Health.
Besides being well-versed in various health applications, Dr. Mike also holds many business and marketing certifications. He has a vast business experience and a proven track record of establishing and developing successful business operations.
In 2008, he founded a company that certified health care professionals in health and wellness programs, sensible weight loss, and natural non-invasive cosmetic procedures, and trained over 1,000 professionals in just a few years. Dr. Mike sold the business in 2014 and has since dedicated himself to bio-regenerative medicine applications and stem cell therapy. He founded Neo Matrix Medical in 2015, and as the president/CEO of this revolutionary company, Dr. Mike is currently growing the business at record pace.
Dr. Mike is the author of the revolutionary book Health 4 Life: User Manual and is featured in the book Motivational Speakers America: The Indispensable Guide to America’s Business and Motivational Speakers as a Top International Keynote Speaker alongside celebrities such as Les Brown and Brian Tracy. Dr. Mike also shared the stage with Darren Hardy, owner of Success Magazine.
Although Dr. Mike stopped competitive swimming in 1994, about three years ago he noticed on Facebook that a friend of his swam a Belgian Masters record. He shares, “I needed to get back in better shape and I decided to look up the Belgian Master swimming records. Since I don’t necessarily enjoy training hard, I had to set myself a goal: swim a Belgian Masters record in six months.” So, after a 22-year break, Dr. Mike dove back in the pool to compete.
In 2017, Dr. Mike was awarded the “All American” title. He competed in 37 events and won all of them, including nine YMCA national titles and four USMS (United States Master Swimming) national titles. But because of all that swimming in 2017 he injured his shoulder. Dr. Mike was diagnosed with full-thickness, bilateral rotator cuff tears in his shoulder. “Surgery was recommended,” says Dr. Mike. “But that was not a choice for me. Guess what I had done? Yes, stem cell therapy.” The injection with an Umbilical Cord Matrix product was quick and easy, safe and very effective, with no downtime. “Eight days after the injection I had my full motion back in my shoulders and soon thereafter I was working out again,” says Dr. Mike, whose shoulders are not only completely repaired, but the new tendon tissue is stronger than ever before.
He swam 14 Belgian Records so far and only missed the U.S. Record by 0.26 seconds this month at the Rowdy Gaines Masters Classic X at the YMCA in Central Florida. Dr. Mike did swim his lifetime personal best in the 100 meters freestyle in 52”80. He plans to compete a little longer at this level and is determined to hold an American and World Record soon. “After I accomplish that, I plan to keep swimming as part of a less aggressive fitness regimen. Training at this level long term is not really healthy,” he affirms.
While he has enjoyed bringing swimming back into his life, his true passion now is Neo Matrix Medical. “My biggest goal lately has been creating awareness among physicians, so they can answer patient’s questions about what conditions respond well to stem cell therapy. We plan to create a network of clinics that solely focuses on stem cell therapy and offer people a better solution for their pain, orthopedic and neurologic conditions. The treatments we offer have a great success rate because we specialize in these stem cell based therapies and have all the resources available to stay two steps ahead of the competition.”
